Project Proposal
My focus of study is visual art because drawing is something I enjoy and it is a way for me to
express what I struggle to express with words. This is why my Integrating Activity project will
be a painting that I will make based on the theme of identity. In class, we have discussed what it
means to be an artist. Something that stands out for me is that artists tend to see the world in a
slightly different way than other people. My painting will attempt to capture what it is like to
look at the world with an artist’s eye, which I believe would be an interesting challenge since it
would allow me to explore my creativity and apply my skill set in drawing. My specialty is
portraits so I will be doing a portrait of an artist as seen through an artist’s eyes. My working title is currently The Portrait of an Artist. Since I will take a creative approach, I want to incorporate surrealist elements into the painting. After all, my favourite things in art are bringing together different elements and concepts to create something both a little strange and unique. As for the process, I will sketch out a few ideas, choose the one I like and then paint it on a canvas board with acrylic paint.
